In Search of a Home
By Karyn Kovacs

I have always wanted what you have wanted:
A warm, safe, cozy bed
And someone to tuck me in at night,
To kiss me on the head.
I have always wanted what you have wanted:
A warm meal, maybe two.
Clean water would be nice, as well
Some toys and bones to chew.
I have always wanted what you have wanted:
A place to call my home
With love, attention and playmates too
Just not here scared and alone.
I see feet walking past my cage,
My tail thumps wildly in glee.
But no one notices how cute I am.
Why doesn't anyone play with me?
I have always wanted what you have wanted:
Just come inside and take a glance
Rescue me from this high kill shelter
Don't I deserve a chance?
